My last home meet, ever...:(

This past weekend we had our last home meet this season, and my last home meet ever...:(
it is very sad, because competing at home, at our beautiful new UNM pool is such a pleasure!
Our meet was against Wyoming and New Mexico State. Wyoming is my favorite dive team in Mountain West Conference. All 4 girls (Stephanie, Tiffany, Emily and Allie) are great divers and nice girls in general. They cheer for us even during the meet, and we do too. I love competing against them.

On 3m I did very well except for 1 dive.
105B i hit with a good hurdle, finishing very high above the board.
205C i hit also (it was such a surprise, cause I never really do) I even grabbed my hands on the bottom and got 6'5 and 7 on it. Wow!
305C i crashed... my hurdle was ok, I thought that I got pretty high on it, and worried about being over, I kicked to early and landed way short on my back. Got 3 and 3'5 on it. Dang! That was such a disaster for me, because I know I can do this dive very well. Even if it freaks me out the most, and my hurdle is inconsistent sometimes, I know that I can hit it for a really good score. Ugh... but I didn't give up.
403B i did well (its kind of a shame to do 403B instead of 405C) I can't even hope to win any of the big meets with this dive, cause I am so loosing by the DD (degree of difficulty) However, I still hope that it will get better and I will prepare my inward two and a half for the Conference.
5134D - I finally get this dive, it came to me one day (seems like) I feel confident on this dive and get a good score on it. At this meet I did it well.
5233D - got a good score on it as well. Honestly, even if this dive is consistent, I wish I did something else. Not sure about 5235D, but maybe 5333D or even 5335D. I need to start working on it every day, as soon as possible.
So I ended up scoring 272.60 and getting a 3rd place. Not bad, but could be much better. I was only 1 point away form the 2nd place and about 11 points from 1st place. if I would at least get 5 and half on my gainer I would win the event.
Oh well, I think I am getting there.

Between 3m and 1m event they had a greeting for the seniors. There are 5 seniors on our 2 divers and 3 swimmers. (Ashley Grizdale, Bridget O'Hara, Jen Patterson, Alex Lusk and Me)
We got beautiful flowers and balloons:) and couple words to say on the microphone.

Then there was a 1m event. I missed almost all of my dives except for 403B and 5132D. I felt pumped up, juiced up (ha ha) in other words had a lot of energy (and didn't know what to do with it i guess..) All my hurdles were great, tops were awesome, but I didn't get a good entry on any of them... scored only 228.05 (9th place)

I was little bit upset, of course. but my coach Abel seemed to be happy with my performance. He keeps saying: we don't have to do great right now. We are just working it up to Conference. Then we will show some great diving.
I agree with him, however I still would like to do good every meet, because every good performance helps me to build up confidence and keep good attitude.

In general this meet went very well. Aubrey placed 2nd on 3m. She has been working very very hard and looking good. I can see how she has no problem getting her dives off 3m and they look more consistent. The only thing she struggles with is coming out of he dive. Seems like she knows where it is and she kicks on time, but then instead of stretching into the water she covers up with her feet getting little over and splashing.

Alex is doing well too. She is a competitor and during the meet she knows how to get her stuff together and make the best attempt as possible. She is also doing better with the attitude towards diving and in general. Earlier in the season I felt like she was detaching from the team, stressing out a lot and being depressed. As of right now I feel like she is back with us which makes me happy:)

Gabby placed 5th on 3m and WON 1m, Hooray! I love her 1m diving:) especially the way she does 105B and 403B. Super awesome! I could hear other divers talking: "OMG look at Gabby, she's gotten so much better!", "Wow, Gabby jumps SO HIGH", "Is that Gabby?"
haha We will rock it this year at Conference!

Stephanie, the sweetest girl! Still losing a lot with low DD dives... Most of the college divers have full "two-and-a- half" list on 3 and everything "pike' on 1. And without those dive its almost impossible to get a good score. However she's been getting her 205c, 405C and 5134D off 3m. In my personal opinion she has some major problems in technique. All of her "take offs" are weird. If I was her I would do hundred hurdles and back jumps a day, because I believe that if you can't do a back jump correctly, you cant do 203c correctly, neither 205c. Anyway, every meet for her right now is for gaining a competing experience. We still have some time this season. Go Steph!!!:)

This Wednesday (November 20th) we are leaving to Tuscon, Arizona for a diving invitational competition. I am very excited, because this meet is going to big, we will get a chance to compete against good divers that are not in our conference, and this meet will take place in my favorite, brand new outdoor pool. WoooHooo! So So excited!

Wow, this is the longest post I've ever written.

I will post the results in a sec.

That weekend was very rough for me, I was tired and frustrated. At our meet against BYU i didn't go on my gainer, twice... I've never done that before and during practice I usually go on every hurdle, but during the meet!!! Ugh... No matter how tired my body is, when meet comes I get really pumped up and juiced up on adrenalin. This time it wasn't like that at all and I gave up. Shame... I hope it was the worst meet this season for me.
Right now things are going good. We're getting ready for the home meet this Saturday against Wyoming and NMSU. Wyoming girls are way good. That makes me excited. I try to keep p with good attitude, even though don't get enough sleep and stress out about school.
But I feel its gonna be good this weekend, cause it's my last meet at home ever...
Kick some butt LoBoS!

in 14 hours!

Wow...
it is 3:00AM and I just got done writing an essay that is due in the morning...
It got kinda ridiculous, because I wasn't expecting to stay up so late, and it stresses me out. At 6am we have practice, then I have classes, then practice at 2pm and meet starts at 5:00pm.
I really have to try to get as much rest as possible out of the 3 hours of sleep that I have left. It's going to be a long day. And I really hope that I will feel ok, because I still haven't learned how to dive well when tired. Its just sucks....

So... These are the results. I think for the first meet this season as a team we did great. Congratulations Aubrey on 3m! She looked so confident and strong, that was awesome! Alex impressed me, she got so juiced up and stepped up with her dives significantly (2o5c - wow!). Gabby did great too, as she said that was her best performance on 3m. On 1m she kinda missed her 105B (hurdle), otherwise it would be her victory. No criticizing for Steph, for her it will come with experience. She is still learning new dives, and definitely has to work on that DD. But she was fighting for each dive, and I'm proud of her.
I did well - Sasha did ok. I did good for my first meet, but I know that I could do much better, that's why it was a little upsetting... But whatever. Coach Russel said: "Don't worry about it now. You will do great when it will really matter". And I like to thinks so too.
There is 405c needs to be done and gainer twister on both boards. Looking forward to it. There is no way I'm putting that 5225D on my list ever again, I failed it at several meets already, that's it.
Many things need to be worked on. I have to focus. I am distracted a lot by other stuff in my life and it does affect my performance. I gotta learn how to do one thing at a time.
Anywayzz... Home meet on Thursday the 29th of October vs. Northern Colorado.
Super Exciting!
GO LOBOS!!!
